Reffen: Street food market and cultural hotspot
Reffen is a street food market and cultural hotspot on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen—a vibrant urban oasis for everyone, where something is always happening and the music rarely stops.
The market came to life in 2018 on a former industrial site by the harbour, surrounded by old workshops and warehouses. Today, Reffen is the largest street food market in Northern Europe and a a go-to destination for culture, concerts, and seasonal events.
Spanning 12,000 m² along the waterfront, Reffen offers street food from around the world with views of Copenhagen’s harbour. With around 35 food stalls, 10 bars, four creative workshops, and an on-site brewery, the market blends global flavours with innovative craftsmanship. All stalls and workshops are run by independent entrepreneurs who share their passion with curious guests
Refshaleøen’s industrial heritage remains central to Reffen’s identity. Built mainly from repurposed shipping containers, the market has a raw, urban feel softened by lush green spaces created by Reffen’s gardeners.
An old B&W shipyard machine hall now houses Werkstatt—Reffen’s largest indoor space. With high ceilings and a flexible layout, it hosts concerts, exhibitions, club nights, flea markets, and dining, bringing people together year-round.
When winter arrives, Reffen transforms into Skøjteøen—a sparkling outdoor ice-skating universe where the energy continues on ice.
