Hans Christian Andersen in Copenhagen
Hans Christian Andersen is perhaps the most famous Dane ever.
Andersen was born in Odense at April 2nd 1805 and died August 4, 1875 in Copenhagen.
He was a writer, a traveller and an artist. He is remenbered best for his fairy tales, which have been tranlated into more than 125 languages.
His most famous fairy tales include The Ugle Duckling, The Little Mermaid, The Emerors New Clothes and The Little Match Girl.
Andersen’s stories have inspired ballets, plays, and animated and live-action films.
In several places in Copenhagen, you can see statues of Andersen. Between 1845 and 1864, Andersen lived at Nyhavn 67, Copenhagen, where a memorial plaque is now placed.
