Walk of Fame on Istedgade at Vesterbro
Istedgade in Vesterbro is known by most people in Denmark. This is where pornography was legalized in 1969. For a long time, the street was almost exclusively strip clubs and porn shops. It was one of Copenhagen’s “Red Light Districts.” Since then, it has transformed into a trendy urban area in Denmark’s capital.
But now the street also has its own Walk of Fame.
I 2025, a Walk of Fame was inaugurated, consisting of honorary portraits of people who have lived a life involving drugs, homelessness, and sex work in the neighborhood, but have found a different path, and are now part of the Gadens Stemmer project, which organizes city walks in Vesterbro.
The first tiles laid feature Julie Arendal Klusmann Christensen, Philip Larsen, and Henrik Nørgaard Christensen, all of whom have gone from a life on the edge to now, among other things, being guides for Gadens Stemmer.
