Oldest gay-bar in the World
In Kattesundet in central Copenhagen, you will find Centralhjørnet. A bar that calls itself the world’s oldest still existing gay bar. The bar has existed under its current name since 1917, but there is documentation of an establishment on the site dating back to 1852.
However, documentation of when the place developed into a gay bar only exists from 1939, and from 1955 the bar officially began to identify itself as a gay bar.
In 2007, Centralhjørnet underwent a major renovation. However, it did not change the fact that you will find a unique, solid, and thick atmosphere in the bar. Like a warm blanket that is hard to take off.
Centralhjørnet, which calls itself straight-friendly, is especially known for their Christmas decorations (and Easter decorations), which are incredibly elaborate and help create a very special atmosphere.
At Centralhjørnet, you can also often experience shows and live music. And it is a smoking bar.
Another LGBT+ bar in the vicinity of Centralhjørnet is Oscar Bar & Café, but it is also not far to the nightclub Never Mind or bars like Masken and Jailhouse CPH.
